The Department of Industrial Design, a study of the functional and aesthetic aspects of all industrial products that coexist with human society, examines the designs of consumer goods and products, industrial products, transportation equipment, electronic and electrical products, and more. In addition, students in the department study interior and environmental design and public design through an analysis of the environment that surrounds humans, and learn about the major areas of industrial design, which constitute the field of sporting equipment design and automotive design. Furthermore, students also get to acquire scientific and social knowledge and formative design principles and the creative ability to give form and shape to their designs.
Industrial design is a creative activity that seeks to improve the quality of human life by developing products, product systems, and their environments to satisfy people’s psychological and material needs. As such, industrial design is a comprehensive creative work that relates to all objects that make up the physical environment necessary for human life. Thus, there is a need for industrial designers to understand, analyze, develop, and compile all issues that arise in the entire process from product planning to use. It is worth noting that industrial design plays an indispensable role in the advanced modern industrial society, and there is a strong demand for industrial designers. In response to the needs of the times, the Department of Industrial Design aims to foster industrial designers with the creative ability to shape the tools and environments necessary for human activity into desirable results with scientific and social knowledge and formative principles.
In order to cultivate human resources required in an advanced industrial society, our department aims to cultivate sensitivity to people and objects, creative thinking, and formative, judgment, and communication skills through a step-by-step curriculum. Students will also be able to cultivate their ability to understand complex problems in industrial design and effectively seek solutions so that they can solve design problems on their own.
