The School of Basic Sciences was first established in 2015 with mathematics and physics majors.
Basic sciences consist of disciplines that seek to understand natural phenomena and identify the principles behind them, and the principles and theories of basic sciences are fundamental to the development of engineering and applied science. The School of Basic Sciences at HBNU was first established in 2015 with majors in mathematics and physics. Faculty members conduct research ranging from pure scientific research, seeking to discover the principles behind natural phenomena, to applied scientific research, seeking to solve various applied problems in the industrial field. In addition, the School of Basic Sciences is responsible for provide math and physics education to engineering students at HBNU, thereby providing a foundation for the studies in their majors and contributing to the development of excellent engineering students with both analytical and creative abilities.
The advanced science and technology of the 21st century is shifting from the framework of a single technology to a convergence of information and communication technology (IT), nanotechnology (NT), biotechnology (BT), environmental/energy technology (ET), cyber technology (CT), and space technology (ST), and it is the basic sciences that provide the very foundation of these cutting-edge technologies. With this background, the objective of the School of Basic Science is to cultivate logical and creative problem-solving skills suitable for the era of convergence in the 21st century by providing students with fundamental scientific knowledge.
