Department of Industrial Design Exhibited 'Our Neighborhood Empty house project’ at the 2024 Yuseong Chrysanthemum Festival

□ 산업디자인학과가 10월 18일부터 11월 3일까지 ‘팝업 갤러리 프로젝트 2024(POP UP GALLERY PROJECT 2024)’로 대전 유성구 유림공원에서 열리는 제15회 유성국화축제에 참여한다고 밝혔다.

□ Hanbat National University (President Oh Yong-Jun) Industrial Design Department announced its participation in the 15th Yuseong Chrysanthemum Festival, held at Yurim Park in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, from October 18 to November 3, through the "Pop-Up Gallery Project 2024."

 ○ 팝업 갤러리 프로젝트는 국립한밭대학교 산업디자인학과가 지난해부터 유성국화축제에서 새롭게 선보인 ‘갤러리형 공공예술’ 작품으로, 매년 다른 주제를 선정해 전시한다.

 ○ The pop-up gallery project is a "gallery-type public art" work newly introduced by the Department of Industrial Design at the Hanbat National University at the Yuseong Chrysanthemum Festival since last year, and selects and displays different themes every year.

□ 이번 전시 주제는 ‘우리동네 빈집 프로젝트’로 대전시와 협력하여 실제 현안 대상을 주제로 정하였고, 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 빈집 문제에 대한 실제적인 고민을 담았다.

□ The theme of this exhibition is "Community Vacant Homes Project," which has been set as the subject of actual pending issues in cooperation with Daejeon and contains practical concerns about the ever-increasing problem of vacant homes.

 ○ 산업디자인학과 3학년 학생들은 지난 1학기 동안 공공환경디자인 수업을 통해 실제 빈집을 대상으로 창의적인 아이디어를 제시하며 지역 사회의 환경 개선과 활성화를 위한 실질적인 디자인 솔루션을 모색했다.

 ○ In the first semester, third-year students from Hanbat National University's Department of Industrial Design proposed creative solutions for vacant homes through public environment design classes and sought practical design solutions to improve and revitalize the environment in the local community.

 ○ 학생들은 동구 5곳, 중구 3곳, 대덕구 1곳, 유성구 1곳을 대상지로 선정했으며, △U.Hue △세월과 사람, 땅을 잇는 고리 △Wave to mood △쉬엄마당 △판암이, 여유 △일상을 찢다 △Whistel △샘밑 △너나들이 △매듭이라는 주제로 10개의 공공디자인 작품을 완성하여 해당 작품들을 국화와 함께 전시했다.

 ○ The students selected five locations in Dong-gu, three in Jung-gu, one in Daedeok-gu, and one in Yuseong-gu as their target areas. They completed ten public design works under themes such as △U.Hue △The Link Between Time, People, and Land △Wave to Mood △Place of Relaxation △Panami, Leisure △Tearing Everyday Life △Whistle △Saemmit △Neonadeuli △Knot. These works were exhibited alongside chrysanthemums.

□ 작품을 지도한 산업디자인학과 김지현 교수는 “학생들이 지역 공동체의 일원으로서 빈집 문제를 해결하고자 많은 고민을 했으며, 실질적인 변화를 이끌어낼 수 있는 디자인을 제안하고자 노력했다”며, “제안된 아이디어가 지역 공동체 활성화와 지속 가능한 도시 재생에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

□ Kim Ji-hyun, a professor of industrial design who led the work, said, "As a member of the local community, students thought a lot about solving the problem of vacant houses, and tried to propose designs that could lead to practical changes," adding, "We look forward to the proposed idea contributing to revitalizing the local community and sustainable urban regeneration."

 ○ 이번 전시에 참여한 서대진 학생은 “빈집이 공공디자인을 통해 주민들을 위한 공간으로 변화할 수 있다는 가능성을 깨달았고, 이번 국화축제를 통해 우리가 고민한 내용을 시민들과 함께 공유할 수 있어 매우 기쁘고 뿌듯하다”라고 소감을 전했다.

 ○ Seo Dae-jin, a student who participated in the exhibition, said, "We discovered the potential of empty houses could be transformed into spaces for residents through public design, and we are very happy and proud to share our concerns with citizens through this chrysanthemum festival."
